F.O's

These are what I have finished so far this year, as well as the new scarf I am working on.
The Irish Hiker Scarf is made from carion ss off white and is almost 5 feet long.
The socks are from "Knit Scocks whatever the yarn" Lettuce-Edge sock in ww. I foregot the brand of yarn.
The new scarf is in RH Plum Pudding. When I first learned this pattern of knit it was called Basket Weave, about 20-25 years ago. I have made a few sweaters from this knit pattern.

Fustration!

Fustration is... needing to print something and the kids used all the paper.
... out of ink, I just put in a new one last week.
... having 2 teens and a pre-teen in the house.
... having said children thinking I just live to clean up after them.
... having the kids stuff in my yarn baskets and yarn on the floor.
... no clean socks.

Much better today

Today was a much better day. I got my morning nap, and a long hot shower. Thats when the phone started ringing. First hubby just checking in and then he called back and wanted to know if a fax came in. No. Then my dad call to say happy birthday, only 3 days late and he wanted to take me out to lunch. I had to say no because I had to go to the CPAs and get my taxes done. I know he was dissapointed, but he needed to call sooner. I love my dad. I wonder if we can go tomorrow?
After the CPAs I went to JoAnns for yarn. I had planned to do so and had a little bit of extra money to spend. When I was at the CPAs I could see the Micheals sign and almost went there. While petting the yarn and trying to find what I wanted to bring home and do more then pet.hehe. Hubby called and needed to know the balance in all the accounts. Good thing I had checked before leaving home (thats how I knew how much I could spend). He had had the truck batteries checked and found 3 out of 4 were dead. We had just bought them last fall. The extreme cold weather he has been driving in had killed the batteries. Untill we get some pay we are limited to the cash we have in our pockets. Hair cut will have to wait. But I did get some yarn.
If the weather gets nasty next week (it might) I want yarn to comfort me.
Well time for bed now. So night all.

AHHHH Monday.

Yeah it's monday.
I like mondays. The house is quite. I can relax and watch or not watch tv. I can eat what I want for lunch or just snack all day, or not eat at all, (but not for more than one day at a time). Just as long as the blood sugar does not drop to low, and it has, not fun.
I watched the history channel today and did some knitting.
I decided to get my hair cut soon. I have natural curly hair and it is long enough to pull the curl out some. With it short it will curl up tightly. Not to short just below the shoulders.
I have to go to the CPAs tomorrow and get the taxes done. I think I'll stop by JoAnn's and pet, maybe get some yarn.
There is no snow in the near future and I like that. It will be dry for a few days. That will be nice, to have sunshine for a while. I could use more sun in my life. My last few post sound like I have S.A.D. but that comes from living in the great northwet.
I need to do some spring cleaning so I can sit down and get busy on a real project. I has been a long time since I did some big project.
I'm going to go now and finish a sock and then start the other half of the pair.
bye-bye

The kids went back to school, hubby came home and the snow is gone.
Then the weekend came and is almost over. I can't wait till morning when the kids are back in school. I like it when it is quite here at home. Hubby left yesterday for a long road trip. He wont be back for a few weeks.
I should say that I am another year older than I was on friday.
My birthday came and went without any kind of fanfair. Which suited me fine, I just went and played bingo.
F.O.'s - 2 hats, and a scarf.
On the up note, I got all my bills caught up for the month. Month left over more money coming in and no bills till next month. This inclueds the last payment on my van. Whoo hoo.
I got all my paper work done and ready to take to the CPA's on tuesday. Hopfully we wont have to pay alot this year.
Not much more going on here.

Guess What

NO SCHOOL TODAY, AGAIN!
2 more inches of snow and they call off school again. This is awful not enough snow to really play in it so the kids are in front of the tv. I want my house back and I want it cleaned. It has been getting cleaned up it gets messed up again right after. Never ending circle when the kids are home.
Oh well I'm off to my bedroom with my paperwork so I can get it done today.

Still Cold

Still being held captive by this cold weather.
Yep with today being a school holiday it makes it 6 days the kids have been home. The news at 10 p.m. says 2 hour delay for school in the morning if the new snow does not get to deep or icy to call off school another day.
I love my kids but having 2 teens and a pre-teen home from school and needing to be entertained so they don't kill one another is a full time job.
There is nothing on tv for them to watch because they want to watch 3 different shows. I held my grounds in my bedroom with my tv so I could just watch what ever I wanted and knew they would not watching with me, so I was left alone. BTW I had to stay in bed anyway because the cold really made my back and hip hurt so bad. I slept when the pain was to great to do anything else. I did get some knitting done I made my sis a pair of socks and I am more than half way done with the Irish Hiker Scarf. My first time using the cable stitch and I am enjoying it. I will use it again.

Damn it is COLD!!!

It has been a long enough winter already.
Damn it is COLD!!!
there is still snow on the ground and the temp is below freezing all weekend. It might warm up to the low 40's by wed. but right now it is 21* and going to get colder before morning. Todays high temp was about 38* at my house. The snow has not melted and gone away like it should, maybe if it was deeper than an inch it would be more fun. I have stayed in my room all day since last wed. because the kids have been home from school and this is a holiday weekend which means they have a total of 6 days off from school, after going back for just 3 days last week and 2 this week from the christmas break. The only peace I get is in my room with the door shut.
I have been doing some knitting in there I started the Irish Hiker Scarf and have about 18 inches of it done. Carion SS in off white. It is so soft and looking very pretty.
The old dog in the yard is feeling very young in the cold weather. He wants someone to come out and play with him. I was going to throw him one of the cats but could not make up my mind as to which one. (Not really).
Kim had brought home an art project that she needed to finish here at home so I got her some good brushes and got out my good watercolor set for her to use. I let her use then tonight because Thomas is at my sis house and would not be able to bother her while she is working. She has become quite an artist and I want her to be able to do her best on her project. When she is finished I will post a pic. She printed a pic from the computer and is doing the pic in water colors. The pic is of a trout jumping out of the water, and it is just awesome.
I so need to get out of this house. SOON!!!

The Storm is Coming

There is a new storm brewing out there. It is going to rain ( big surprise here in the northwet).
The wind is starting to blow and it will blow in a big way again. Trees will fall down and knock out power to thousands of people again. Ther rain will turn into snow late tonight and early in the morning anywhere between a trace and 4 inches. They are talking it up big on the tv. Tomorrow the temp will drop into the low 30's for the highs and 29's for the lows and stay there for a few days. I hope that they don't cancel school for this I don't think the snow will get that deep but the wet roads will get very icy. This has been one weird winter already.
I am going to the craft store today to get the neddles I need to start the Irish Hiking Scarf. I have plenty of yarn here so I will not buy any (yeah, right).
I will have plenty to do to keep myself busy if the power goes out. I hope it stays on at my sis' house I don't think I can take an extended stay over again.
Bye for now.

I don't have much to say tonight.
I am still learning about the computer and what I don't know how to do.
I think I have the site feed opened up now. And I signed up on bloglines.
I maybe able to play a bit more on the computer now that the kids are back in school for the week. Then it is a 3 day weekend. I never get to the computer when they are home.
I did get my files all sorted out and ready to get everything ready to go to the CPA's later this month. This is about the most work I do for our trucking company all year.
I went to JoAnn's yesterday to get sewing machine needles and forgot to get cable stich holders for knitting. I did get some fabric though. I will be making pajamma bottoms soon.

No One I know

No one I know was involved in this mornings shooting. One was killed by one shooter. It was not random or gang related. The two knew each other and had fought.

Not at My School

There was a shooting at a Tacoma school this morning. Not at the school my kids go to. THANK GOD! The shock came when I found out what school it was. My son is in DeMolays, and Mason sponsored youth group for boys. (My daughters are in Job's Daughters, I was too). Many of the boys from D go to the school as do their girl friends so I do know 20-30 of the students there.
The names have not been released as of yet.
I had set down to check my messages when I got one from Faye about the shooting. I had not heard any thing so I turn on the news just as it started at noon. In about 20 minutes there will be a news conference on.
My kids go to a school that is small just under 700 students from pre-K to 12th. Just outside of Tacoma. I am sure this will be at the top of the list for discussion at the next PTSO and school board meetings.
Before anyone says anything about gun control DON'T! I don't think more laws are needed just tougher penalties, and lots more education. All of us has had some training and know how to handle a weapon safely. My hubby, son, and I have hunters licence. My kids were never allowed to play with toy guns because GUNS ARE NOT TOYS!
I blame the parents for not being parents and video games that show to much graphics and violence. My son just got his first game system because he bought it himself and all games have to be approved by me. He is 13 and going to be stuck with Donkey Kong and Mario Bros. till he moves out.
Please keep these students in your prayers today, thank you.

Happy New Years!

Happy New Years to all.
It was a quite evening here for the midnight thing. The neighbors were shooting off fireworks and the dog was barking at the pretty lights.
Yesterday we had my son's faimly b-day dinner and cake. After he went home with my sis and so did my youngest so it was just the 14-1/2 yearold and me.
Tom was stuck in NM because of the snow and today is still having some trouble getting through to IA. He has been there since friday and had to get out before the new storm tomorrow.
On sat. I took my son and some boys in his org. to the snow up on the pass. We could have taken just 2 cars but for some reason I said lets take 3. There was 8 kids in all and 4 adults. It was cold and the snow was very deep. I am not a snow bunny I think snow is pretty when it is no deeper than 8 inches. It was over 4 feet deep. A few of the kids did not realize that playing in snow was a lot of work. I don't know how they thought they were going to get back to the top of the tube and sled runs after they slid down, but they complained about it being to hard and no fun. WHIMPS.
After bringing 3 kids back to the lodge to warm up we got a call that 1 of the other boys was hurt. When they brought him back to the lodge area it was decided to take him to the hospital back in town. I was a good thing having 3 cars. We brought the rest down in the other 2. We met up at the hospital to get the kids back to their parents and get our gear sorted out and to find out how he was doing. Broken collar bone, he will be himself real soon.

The only thing I am planning on doing this year is to continue the slow weight loss. Slow and steady is better than fast, so keeping it up.
I also plan on doing more crafting be it beading, crocheting, knitting, sewing, or whatever comes along.
Anyother resolutions will be a waist of time.

I am going to go get a latte and then watch the RoseBowl.
Happy New Years!
