Oh the weather outside is frightful.

It is snowing here. If you had watched Monday night football you'd have seen it.
There was a dusting this morning just about 2 inches and it melted when the sun came up. Now it is lightly snowing. I hope it is just a dusting again so the kids don't miss any school.
Up north of here it snow over 12 inches the annual snow fall is 16 inches a year.
I tried to take a pic this morning of the dog in the snow, he was very happy, but the batteries were dead. I got new ones with a spare set. So if there is snow in the morning you will get to see my husky mix being very happy.
I just checked it is 30* now. Damn cold.
I have a lot to do before the end of this week and I am feeling a bit overwhelmed. I have a formal top to sew, a petticoat to make, a pair of socks to knit to match the knitted skirt. I am also making a crown for a gag gift and a nice box for the real crown and I need it by Sat. All of this needs to be done by Sat.
Plus my hubby wants me to go through the business files and reconcile the pay settlements with the work order sheets and the receipts for the scanning of the B&Ls.
And he wants it done by morning.
Better go and get it done.

I finished it

Yes I finished the skirt I was knitting for Nicole. I had to frog it once when I was halfway with it. It was way to big and when I started over I measured it to make sure it was right. That ment that I was not going to need to follow the stich # and had to do the math for the right size. I used a different yarn than the pattern called for I had never heard of the brand that was used, I also used a size smaller needle for it too. I need to get the ribbon for the lacing then I will post a pic.
I crocheted 2 cup cozys I got from Kare's blog. Thanks Kare.
Weds. is half day at school then the 4 day weekend. YUK. I hate half days and long weekends.
We have had as of right now just under 13 inches of rain this month and it is still raining. It is offically the wettest month since keeping track at the airport and if it rains through next week it might be the wettest month ever, record is 15.33" downtown.
I'll be out back building a boat.

I HATE YOU Pattern makers!

I hate the pattern makers. I have been sewing for years and never had a problem with the fit, now nothing fits.
It is not me I cut out the pattern 2 sizes bigger because the patterns are running smaller now. 2 sizes I can adjust to fit where needed, but this is ridiculous. I can buy my size off the rack and not have a problem, but now the sizing on patterns so wrong.
I spent a lot of money on the pattern and a small fortune on the fabric to have it come out bad. The top I made was to tight across the shoulders and sleaves, and big around the middle. My sister is a size small than me and it barly fit her so she got it.
Get it together pattern makers a size 20 off the rack should be a size 20 homemade.
DAMN YOU ALL!

This week

Wow what a week.
Weds. was a half day for Kim and I had her teacher conference that afternoon.
I got nothing but good reports on her and all her teachers love having her in their classes. She is so smart. She is so far ahead of her class that she has become the classroom peer tutor and teacher assistant. Besides regular class she is in the gifted class and gets advanced work. She is also in band, gifted music and choir, and gifted art after school. She is just awesome.
Thursday I had a PTSO meeting at the school and it was a half day too.
After the meeting I got the kids and took them back to school for dinner and to conference with the middle and high school teachers. 2 kids X 6 classes each. They have 2 teachers in commons so I got 2 for 1 there and 1 has 1 teacher for 2 subjects. I got the kids sighed in fofr dinner and headed into the gym to meet with the teachers.
I get good reports from all of them about the 2 kids. I even got a few "the grades would be higher if they turned in all their work and did not miss as much class time". Meaning the C's could be A's. They both got 2 As, 2 Bs and 2 Cs.
I also had time to meet with the art teacher to get Thomas in the gifted art for the MS/HS.
Friday I went to the dr to have a check up on the pain I have been having in my side.
I have had only 2 flare ups in the last 3 months. Still waiting to get insurance and have some tests run. But the good news is I lost another 7 pounds in 2 months. That is over 30 since last Jan.
Kim also got her flu shot today so hopefully no more sick days for her. She begged for 2 weeks to get the shot.
On to knitting news:
I am almost done with the skirt I am knitting for Nicole. Just 1 more decrease and then the ruffle.
Also I have a bag that I was knitting on and I worked on it at the dr's office.
I decided to make a button hole and built in handles instead of add on. Almost finished just the handles then felting.
Well bed time for now.

It is tuesday and I still have not been home alone yet, since wedensday the 8th. Someone has been sick and stayed home from school and yesterday hubby came home in the middle of the day. Tomorrow starts 1/2 day from school, first for Kim then all three on thursday and friday. Phfffffft.
I did some more knitting on the skirt and I am now past the piont I was when I had to frog it. I am half way now, if I don't make it longer than it is called for. Nicole is a tall one, all legs too.
Over the weekend just for some mindless knitting I made 4 or 5 dishcloths.
Yesterday I fixed a roast for dinner since hubby was home.
Tonight was chicken and spanish rice from a box.
Tomorrow I am thinking about chicken, wild rice and mushroom soup with homemade bread. OK the bread is from frozen dough.
It didn't rain today but it will tomorrow and I have a teacher conference in the afternoon. Thursday I will have to do 2 conferences for the high school and middle school.
Sorry to have bored you. Good night.

It's the weekend

Whoohoo it is the weekend or is it oh boy.
No school on friday and it was a long day with the kids home.
Today was Kim' b-day party I let her invinte 3 girls from school and I took them ice skating and my sis brough my niece too. The kids all had a good time the friends had never been before and my kids have not been in a long time not that went often but I am thinking maybe we should.
I would guess that everyones favorite was watching the Zambonie do it's work.
We had cupcakes and juice while watching the Zambonie.
She got some art kits and projects.
After the party we came home and I got ready for the big family dinner.
Kim wanted to have home made pizza for her birthday dinner. I had to roll out the dough for 6 pizzas. Everyone got what they wanted on them too.
After everyone left I wanted to do some sewing but I had to fix the machine and it took a long time. One of the kids had used it and got it bound up with thread real thick. I though I was going to need to take it to a shop but I got it out. Then I got busy sewing I am out of blue thread so I worked on my skirt for me long black one. I got it done in no time at all, but to late to go get blue thread for my blouse. Maybe tommorow I can stop and get some as well as green for Kim's skirt and yellow for her top.
Wow that was a lot for today. I'm tired, night everyone.

The blue is the skirt I am knitting and that is Spike doing his job of quality control. The skirt is to big for Nicole. I wanted it for her by the end of the month but now I will have to start another one. I don't know if I can get one done in time for her.

Vote Today.

Do remember to vote today. I did and I got hubbys in too.
It is your job to vote and you should know about the issues you are voting for.

Today is my baby's birthday she is 11 now. Happy Birthday Baby!

It is still raining, not whining just reporting.
The kids had to evacuate school today due to the rivers rising. There are several small towns around here that have been cut off from the rest of the world.

Not much else going on here.

Rain, Rain, Rain and MORE Rain.

Guess what? It is raining. Here in the Northwet. Did you see Monday night football, then you saw the rain.
Over 36 hours of rain and still more on the way.5 inches in the last 48 hours. There are flood warnings on all the rivers in the area (14). I live in the high area but there are some streams and creeks on the way to the school, and there are areas that pool up.
We should have about 12 hours of sunshine on thursday. Then MORE RAIN.

I got new breaks on the van today, just the front axile, the back are fine. The dealership wanted over two hundred dollars more than the tire shop I use. I like the tire shop and trust them a lot. They do all the tire work on the big rig. While waiting on the van I did some knitting on the skirt. I am now on the decrease of the shaping.
I went to the dollar store and got some battery lights in case the power goes out. So far no outage here.

Another boring day in the wind and rain.
I have been knitting on the skirt some theses past few days and I am past the increases. Now just getting to the measured lenth and then the decreases.
I have gotten the two skrits and two blouses cut out and I went today to get the lining for one of the blouses.
I spent over $80.00 at JoAnn's. No not just on the lining, I found that on clearance. I got some polar fleese for making the kids blankets for Christmas and some flannel for son a pair of pajamma bottoms. It is so hard to find flannel for young men and not 6 year old boys. I got him black and orange flames.
And I bought more yarn for the afghan I started last week.
Last Sunday when hubby was home he started a jigsaw puzzle, 1000 pieces. He got a piece of plywood from the garage and left it in the middle of the living room floor. I could have shot him right then. I can not leave a puzzle unfinished for very long. First it was on the I can only sit on the floor for so long before my back and knee starts aching too bad to stay down there. He left on Tuesday and the puzzle was not finished yet, I toiled over it as much as I could. I had to get it finished even though I had so much to do. Down till I hurt, up till I didn't aand back down again. Well Friday it was finished finally. Now it is in it box and on a shelf and Kim got out one of her puzzles to take its place. Just 550 pieces. If I think of it as a kids puzzle I wont have to touch it. HA!
Tomorrow will be more wind and rain. Wonder if I'll lose power?
Night everyone.

Yeah it's Hump Day

It's Wednesday and almost over.
First Monday was a wasted day. Tom need to take the truck to Auburn for repairs on the suspension, so I drove out there to pick him up. They said it would take a couple of hours so instead of coming all the way home we stayed out there. First we had an early lunch. We went to a used motorcycle place, then went to the super mall just to walk around. The book store was going out of business so we looked around not much of a selection no wonder they are going out. They only had 4 books on knitting and crocheting nothing I wanted. I did find a few books I thought my son would like and he did.
Around 2:00 we went back to the shop and they were not finished yet. We thought they would be done by 1:00. So we sat there in the car I had a crossword puzzle book and did one and then I started a washcloths, I got half way done when we decided I would come on home and get something for dinner at 3:30. Traffic was at the usual backed up parking lot.
The kids were sent home at noon because the heaters were not working. Good thing the oldest one has a key.
On Tuesday I took some chips to Kim and my neices class for their parties and picked up the two older kids. We had to get to the other side of town after Kim got out of school. We were helping set up a haunted house for the real little kids trick or treating. I let the two girls walk around the area for t or t and the son and I worked the haunted house till almost the end of t or t and then the son went around.
We got back home around 7:00, Tom had dinner ready when we got home because I called him on the way home.
There was not a lot of kids coming around here for candy but in the ten years we lived here very few have come.
I did not get much done today I had to get the oil changed in the van and it took almost two hours. While I was there I did some work on the skirt I am making.
When I got home the phone was out and after checking all the connections on both lines I call the repair line to see what was up. He said the lines were heavily damaged and it would be Friday at 8:00 p.m. before it would be fixed. The phone is working now but maybe off and on till fully repaired.
This will affect my internet use. I have dial up.
Projects I am working on:
Knitted Skirt
Knitted Purse
Crocheted Afghan
2 Knitted Washcloths
Projects to do:
4-6 pajamma bottoms
2 Sewn Skirts
2 Sewn Blouses
What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The West

Your accent is the lowest common denominator of American speech. Unless you're a SoCal surfer, no one thinks you have an accent. And really, you may not even be from the West at all, you could easily be from Florida or one of those big Southern cities like Dallas or Atlanta.
