I made socks!

Yes I did it I made socks.
My first pair and I made it up as I went.
My daughter Nicole thinks she gets them now but I am making all the kids a pair for Christmas.
Last night my sis and I got to go to the Beach Boys concert. We got called a half hour before the concert began and told we could have the tickets for free. Free being our favorite price we went. Twelfth row, stage right, center. FREE.
We sang almost every song. We felt old, but we had a good time.
Today I got a wild hair and mowed the lawn. It has not been mowed in a while because it has been hot and I had not been watering it. I thought I might as well get it done now that the rains have come and I don't like looking at a shabby lawn.
I should have made one of the kids do it because I hurt myself doing it. But I like seeing straight lines in the lawn and they don't do it right, even my hubby sometimes can't get it right.But now it is done and won't have to be done but once or twice more before winter.
BAck to the socks. I found a pattern for worsted weight yarn, and I found some yarn in my stash to make more. I am using a pair of circular needles because I keep dropping off the dpns, and it goes much faster for me.
Well it is late here and I need to get up early and clean house a bit.

Doilies

I have yet to starch both of the purple ones, the white tea cup I got from the reception and the purple one is my copy.

;) A new Printer.

A new printer was born to my house last Friday. It's name is Lex. It does the same as the old one scan, copy, print. It is much smaller than the last one too. Works quitely and does the job without complant. We will have to see how long it will stay with us.
I have not started the socks yet. I got Nicole some yarn so she can make helmet liners and give to Vicky to mail off to the troups. Nicole tried to knit once but said it was to hard and made big holes, and she will not even try to crochet so she is using to kniffty knitter. I started to make one too, knitting in the round.
My girls and I went to a reception yesterday and the centerpieces on the tables were so very nice I wanted one for myself. The lady who made them let me have one. It is a teacup doily, and yes I made one after I got home and took a nap. I was so tired yesterday I guess it was the long two weeks I had before.
I am having trouble uploading pics tonight, even on photobucket. It might just be me. I will try again later.

Its Raining!

Finally it is raining. It has been a long time since we had rain I almost forgot what it was.
This has been the hotest and driest summer I can remember since moving here 18 years ago. We need the rain in Washington there are 10 fires burning some for 2 months and 2 less than 30 miles from me. Just don't need any lightning.
I did get a doily crocheted in the last few days. I want to knit some socks I have some thick yarn for a pair. I need a pattern and needles for the thick yarn.
The sad news of the day is my printer has died. I think it is beyond calling back from the other side. It has been sick for a while and now just sending out blanks. The ink is full and it was just going through the motions but alas nothing. It was only 4 years old this summer and worked hard for me. I will miss it dearly. sniff.

Wow. What a week.

Last weekend was my nephews birthday and we spent the whole weekend at my sisters.
I was also the big Pow Wow in town so we went there to look around and believe it or not I only spent 3.00 on beads there.
Tuesday we had planed on going to Shipwreck Beads. A big bead warehouse not far from here. I went to pick up some charms we are going to use for gifts and I wanted to look around for some beads that would call to me to fondle them and take them home. I had gotten the charms and was looking around when my hubby called and said I needed to get home fast and look for some paper work and fax off so we could get paid. The company could not find their copy. So home we came without getting anything more, sis had found some beads and stuff she wanted. We will have to go down again to look around for more beads.
After we got home and found the paper work we went to lunch and then to Walmart. I found one skein of yarn I liked and I am going to try to knit a pair of socks (footwarmers).
Wednesday I went to Joann's and got some fabric to make my youngest daughter a dress. She needs a medieval style dress for the organization she is in.
I did not get it made yet needed it yesterday.
Thursday I wasn't going anywhere, I was going to clean house and get sewing. About 4 pm my hubby called and said we had truck problems and he might need me to drive across the state to meet up with him and go parts hunting. I left about 7:30 that night and got to him at 11:30, my brother came to stay with the kids because he and my sister didn't think they could stay by themselves. They are 14, 12 and 10. I told the next door neighbor I was leaving and to keep an eye on the house. The 14 year old wants more responsibility and was upset that her uncle was coming over.
Any way I got over to Tom and the next morning the first place we went to could order the part new for less than we found in the wrecking yards. We spent the day together just driving around town and getting a flat fixed. The we had a late breakfast and went to Barnes and Nobles he had never been to a B and N. I could not believe it that he had never been to one before. We spent 2 hours looking around and he could not decide on a book so he didn't get one, I got 4 and he is reading 2 of them. I got back home just before midnight on friday. I was busy all weekend too. Today is my only day to do nothing and every other evening this week I will be out.
I did manage to get some crochet done last week 3 doilies, and I started one tonight.
Right now I am so glad I don't have a job.lol. But being a full time mom is a full time job.
